Welcome to Turkish Items, the first Turkish doll store in the world. We specialize in Turkish dolls wearing traditional Turkish costumes.Turkish culture is one of the richest in the world and each region in Turkey has its own culture with different dress traditions. You may see different examples of female and male Turkish clothing on our dolls from Ottoman bridal dresses to sufi darwish clothes. All of the items are handmade in Anatolian Turkish style and are the result of a careful design and labor. The fabrics used in the dolls (kutnu kumaş) are in the traditional style and are the same as the ones used in traditional costumes.

is from Turkey. She is dressed in the traditional Anatolian Ottoman clothes.
She is wearing a shirt (işlik), an outer garment (üçetek), and an apron
(önlük) over a pair traditional Turkish pants (şalvar). On her head, she
wears a fes decorated with coins. Fes is covered with a headscarf the
borders of which is decorated with hand made laces. Her socks are hand knit
wool.

This handsome Seğmen Efe is from Ankara,
Central Turkey. He is wearing zıvga (pants), cepken (short jacket), Osmaniye
İşlik (shirts) and tiftik çorap (socks from Ankara goat wool). His girdle is
called kuşak and his gun holder is attached to the girdle. He is carrying
two knives just in case. His shoes are called yemeni and are from black
leather. He is wearing a takke on his head and the musical instrument he is
playing is bağlama/saz, the typical instrument of central Turkey. He is
sitting on a gorgeous red minder. He is handmade from original paper
material. All of his clothes are also handmade.

This young lady is dressed in traditional
Azeri clothes with a beautiful skirt and a jacket. The jacket is decorated
with embroidery around it. Her head dress includes a fes and a headscarf the
borders of which is decorated with handmade lace. She wears hand-knit wool
socks.

This handsome villager is from Ankara,
Central Turkey. He is wearing pants and a plain color shirt with a vest over
it. His hat on his head is a typical villager hat for Turkey. He is sitting
on a minder. He is riding a bull cart pulled by two bulls. This is a typical traditional Turkish carriage. Horses were rare and usually were more expensive. Bulls were used for pulling the carts and in agrigulture. All of the items you see here including the man himself, his clothes, bulls and the cart are hand made. It is unique and there is not a second copy of the same item.

Whirling dervishes are the followers of
Mawlana Jalaluddin Rumi (Mevlana Celaleddin Rumi). He was a great scholar
lived in 13th century in Konya, Turkey and established his sufi movement
known as Mawlawiyya (Mevlevilik). His followers, during their rituals,
rotate around themselves and around an axis as the planets rotate around
themselves and around the sun. One of their hands is open upwards for
knowledge from the God and the other is turned down to distribute what they
have to the people. The always wear white dresses to represent their purity.
This doll represents a whirling dervish (derviş) and is fully handcrafted.
